With 46 points, Alistair Robertson comfortably won the July Qualifier in the Woodbury Park seniors’ roll-up last week, writes Carole Pye.
After count back, Terry Tilbury (41) was declared the runner-up, just nudging out Peter Stone.
There was a tie for first place in the very popular mid-week competition.
After count back Barrie Nichols took the winners slot with 36 points ahead of David Ledger.
Brilliant sunshine and a sporting atmosphere sealed an enjoyable friendly for the Acorn ladies’ at Bovey. However, the unfamiliar course proved too much of a challenge for the Woodbury team.
John Day, with 39 points, won the monthly qualifier on the Acorns and John Hunt (38) was the runner-up .
The Club Championships, the major competition at Woodbury, were played over two days last weekend with scores from both days being combined.
The competition has two levels of play the scratch and handicap.
Congratulations to the scratch players Tom Jessamine and Melissa Eccles who won the Nigel Mansell trophies. Melissa’s new handicap is now five whilst Tom’s is now minus one-point-five.
Well done, to Tom who was defending his title from last year.
The Birchmore trophy was won by Su Calver and David Cockayne Jnr.
