Exmouth Town eased their way into the third round of the Throgmorton Cup with a 4-1 Southern Road victory over Axminster Town.
Town boss Richards Pears got just the response he had been looking for after the disappointment of the FA Vase defeat seven days before when his side went two up inside nine early first half minutes!
Ace High headed Town ahead from a seventh minute Lloyd Gardener cross and two minutes later Dan Boere rifled a shot home from almost the halfway line to double the lead.
Andrew Thompson, crucially cup tied the week before, made it three on the half hour and, despite the visitors getting one back on the stroke of half time, Town went on to add a late fourth with High finishing what he started netting the games fifth and final goal.
Town now play Western Division top six side Penryn Athletic at Southern Road on Saturday December 8th for a place in the last eight of the competition.
