Fifteen-year-old Colyton Grammar schoolgirl, Isabella Brown was triumphant at the David Lloyd Half Term Tournament in Bristol last weekend.
At the Grade 3 tournament which attracted entries from all around the UK, Isabella took the 18 and Under Girls Singles title.
Isabella faced a tough first round match, drawing the number-two seed and higher rated Reegan Greenwood from Hampshire, but the youngster dominated play winning 6-3, 6-4.
She then went on to meet fellow East Devon Tennis Academy player Sarah Collinge, winning 6-2, 6-3.
On finals day, Isabella faced Ema Lazic from Wiltshire in a thrilling contest that lasted a stamina zapping two hours and 45 minutes!
Both girls played with real determination, but in the end it was Isabella who came through to win 6-4, 5-7, 10-5, with the outcome eventually decided in a match Tie Break.
Isabella is trained by Derek Blackmore at LED’s East Devon Tennis Academy. Derek believes the title is a just reward for the effort Isabella has been putting into her training programme.
He said: “Isabella has increased the level of intensity of her training so that every session is full of quality tennis which she is then taking into matches.”
