In the Woodbury and District Skittles League A, The Robins got back into winning ways by defeating Black and Whites by six pins, with the Howarth family playing a prominent part, writes SpursTom.

Steve Howarth top scored with 70, closely followed by his brother Peter on 69, and then cousin Scott also in the sixties! It may be enough to keep them mid-table.

Meanwhile, although Dave Everest and Keith Wood were scoring well, the Cock Robins lost again, this time going down by 15 pins to Winslade Buccaneers at the White Hart in Woodbury, but they are still there with a chance of being in the top four.

A team which deserves a mention is the Rolle Rebels who hail from East Budleigh’s Rolle Arms.

Their nearest rivals being Sidmouth’s Odds and Ends for the League B title.

Both were triumphant last week. Rolle Rebels, aided by 66 each from Gary Hoare and Andrew Savage, were victorious against Mr Men from Sidford.

In League C the Cricketers look like the only team capable of getting near to Aylesbeare for top spot. At the other end of the table Terror Pins are back in trouble as they were beaten at home on Monday evening by 44 pins. Consistent good throwing secured the first seven legs for visitors Rough Riders with Graham Sindle (65) and Craig White (64) leading the way.

For the Terror Pins Sue Gatter managed a 61, but unfortunately there were too many misses by the team.
