Exmouth Town Res 1, Exmouth Amateurs Res 1
Honours ended even in an excellent derby match at Southern Road, writes Ross England.
Ammies began brightly and were ahead inside five minutes when Achref Ghamni opened the scoring against his former team mates with a neat lobbed shot over the Town glovesman.
There were two more half-chances before the break, but neither Danny Gould or Colin Gourlay could apply a finish and Ammies went into the interval with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half Town pressed more and Fulls failed with a couple of chances before he slipped his way past a couple of defenders before tucking the ball past Ammies keeper Hazell to make it 1-1.
A change in midfield for Ammies then helped to steady things. Robbie Lambert was outstanding in the middle third for Ammies who nearly won it late on when a Ghamni shot struck the post and then rolled across the goal line and away before being cleared.
Both managers after the game said it was played in good spirit and a draw was a fair result in the end. Ammies now take their unbeaten start to the season into this weekend’s home meeting with Newtown.
