Honiton powerlifter Chris Morgan bags pair of medals at World Championships

Honiton-based powerlifter Chris Morgan has added to his collection of World Championships medals with a bronze and a silver in this year’s World Deadlift Championships.

He was lifting in the World Single Event Championship, which were held in Dusseldorf, Germany, where he made lifts of 220 kilo’s followed by 252.5 kilo’s, then narrowly missing 275 kilo’s to finish in the bronze medal position in the Open Category and the silver medal position in the Masters 1 (40+) category.

After the event Morgan said: “I am very proud to have competed in my tenth World Championship final and to have once again made the podium in what was the most competitive final of my career to date. I’ll now aim to work harder and hopefully come back stronger for next year’s championships that are scheduled to take place here in England,.”

He continued: “I would certainly like to thank all my friends and neighbors throughout the local area for their support over these last few years. I really appreciate all of the kind comments and the encouragement they have given to me in regards to my powerliting career.
