Competition for the leadership of the Symes, Robinson and Lee evening league is intensifying with Exonia remaining top on 32 points.
However, Budleigh Hawks together with the Madeira Blues and Reds are all snapping at their heels with 30 points.
In the latest round of matches Sidmouth shared rink honours with the Blues, who won overall 33 to 23.
The Hawks gained two points when they played the Reds, thanks to a fine victory by Tim Holding, Richard Cooper and Dick Mitchell, who won 21–6.
However, the Reds claimed four points winning, on aggregate, by a margin of seven shots.
Team Manager, Wally Nickels, reports his squad strengthened their bid for top spot in the second division of the Exonia evening league with a win over the Eagles.
A competent display saw Wally, John Vanstone, Burges Stace and Peter Burch overcome their opponents by 20 shots to 15.
Another of Budleigh’s travelling sides won during the week, - this time in the highly competitive Sidmouth evening league.
Alan Pearson, Peter Cooper, Richard Cooper and Burges Stace dominated highly- placed Lyme Smugglers and their match ended with the score at 25–12
