The autumnal sunshine attracted a strong field for the Woodbury Park mid-week stableford competition which was closely contested, writes Carole Pye.
It needed a count-back to identify Chris Hatherly as the winner with 38 points just nudging out Ralph Karkeek on the same score.
The seniors have enjoyed a full season of friendlies and social golf so it was encouraging that one of the closing domestic competitions was well supported.
Two teams, headed by the captain and vice-captain, competed in match play with the outcome going right to the wire.
Once the final shot had been completed the result was a 7-6 triumph for the vice captain.
With well over 100 players taking part in the weekend competition, a Mixed Four Ball Better Ball Stableford, Rob Lake and Garry Batten took the winning slot with a score of 45 points ahead of Jamie Davidson and Phillip Watson on 43.
The first seven couples received prizes.
