Budleigh Salterton Under-16 began their Exeter and District Youth League with a 3-1 triumph at Pinhoe Warriors, writes SpursTom.
Kicking into the wind and up the slope in the first half, they were the better of the two teams in that period, especially in the middle of the park, but neither side could muster a goal and half-time arrived with the score 0-0.
Changes were made with the introduction of James Clarke and Kia Guise and on the hour the young Robins got their noses in front when Luke Bland’s well taken corner was headed home by Clarke. Chances were made and squandered, including the bar being struck in one attack, before Kia Guise scored twice from breakaways to give a healthy three-goal lead to the visitors.
The home team were awarded a late penalty for a high tackle by Harry Moxey and that proved to be the final goal of the match.
The Robins Man of the Match award was shared by Luke Bland and Harry Moxey.
