Sidmouth 52, Exmouth 19
Exmouth Under-12s found themselves up against a very well organised Sidmouth side for their first away game of the new season, writes Andrew Beattie.
The hosts made a flying start and caught the young Cockles napping as they ran in three early tries.
The Cockles slowly found their feet in the game and began to apply pressure and were rewarded when Jed Reid evaded a number of tackles before going over the Sidmouth line. The home side scored next, but back came Exmouth and, after a neat passing sequence, Sam Gooding raced clear to score the second Cockles try.
After the break the home side ran in another three tries before Charlie Mears bagged the third and final Cockles try of the game.
Sidmouth had the final say with a try that took them to a half century of points.
Sam Gooding was named the Exmouth Man of the Match for his excellent work rate, capped off with that try.
