University 4, Exmouth Town Reserves 4
Town Reserves produced a stunning come back to overturn a three goal deficit and fully deserve the share of the spoils they took form the visit to Exeter
The Students raced into a three-goal advantage, though much of that was down to
Some abject play by the Southern Road side as opposed to startling performances from the hosts!
It was poor work rate that was the key for Town and, once they got to grips with the game they began to pass the ball well and were back in the contest with a cool finish from Dan Fulls.
They further reduced the arrears when Steven Cadywould was pushed in the area and Leigh Clark slotted the subsequent spot kick.
After the break Town tweaked their formation and personnel and it paid instant dividends with them levelling one minute after the re-start!
Ian Boyd began the move that ended with Gareth Davies firing home to make it 3-3.
Nathan Doble and Brandon Perry were now making their presence felt after both had started on the bench and Town went in search of a fourth. However, more defensive woes struck and they slipped behind again at 4-3 with 15 minutes remaining.
Town were quick to get back on the front foot and began an all-out assault on the Students goal. Tim and again the University glovesman kept them out until, in the fin al minute, a corner fell to Fulls and he slammed it home.
In an entertaining encounter Town’s Under-18 keeper Craig Forrester made a very promising debut in the senior side.
Next up is this weekend’s much anticipate cross-Town derby with Exmouth Amateurs.
