Exmouth Amateurs Under-11s maintained their title challenge with a 3-1 success at Countess Wear Dynamos.

Ammies took the lead when Max Handford scored from close range after a cross from Lewis Cockayne.

The hosts, who carried a threat throughout, were level by the break.

In the second half the game flowed end-to-end, but the all-important third goal of the contest fell to Ammies when Morgan Sawyer netted with a delightful chip.

Cockayne made the points safe and Ammies were forced to play the final ten minutes with eight players owing to an injury to James Oldbury.

Coach Danny Gould said: “It was a very good all-round performance and there was some excellent defending on show.”
