There was plenty of ‘girl power’ at Greenway Lane on Sunday as the Budleigh Salterton ladies wrapped up a ‘full-house’ of wins for the weekend for the football club as they defeated Ottery St Mary 6-4, writes SpursTom.

The teams met in a Westward Developments Devon Women League Division One match and the home side took an early lead with the goal scorer being Hannah Dawe. Soon after, it was 2-0 to the Robinettes, thanks to a goal from Bec Long.

However, the Ottery ladies hit back in emphatic style to not only level, but then edge ahead into a 3-2 lead – Budleigh goalkeeper Maddie Walsh being powerless to keep out any of the three efforts – all well-struck shots.

An early second-half goal from Amy Salter restored parity, but, in an end-to-end contest, Ottery were soon back in front after scoring their fourth goal of the match.

Back came the Robinettes to level with their stand-out star on the day, Amy Salter, again the scorer. Salter then provided assists for Sara Burke and Hananh Dawe to both net to seal a thrilling 6-4 success.

The win ended a terrific weekend for Budleigh Salterton Football Club, with wins for all four teams that played over the two days – the Reserves being 3-1 winners over Countess Wear, the Under-15s, who won 7-2 against Lympstone, the Robinettes’ win over Ottery and the Under-13 girls, who beat Millwey Rise 4-2.
