It comes from an Exeter-based company, Lightfoot, the unique, award winning, driver coaching technology.

The official kit handover took place before the Robinettes’ recent 6-4 Devon Women’s League win over Ottery St Mary.

Lightfoot, the government-supported technology that is helping to make our roads safer, our environment cleaner and our motoring less expensive, has been described as the ‘Fitbit for cars’.

Its objective is to reward better drivers and it is the world’s first platform to help them benefit from their good driving. Lightfoot has traditionally been used within the fleet industry, yet is soon to launch a consumer version after a successful trial in Exeter, where over a hundred private motorists all improved their driving efficiency, saved money on fuel and reduced harmful emissions. Along the way, they have been competing in leagues and winning prizes like Amazon Echos, kart training with Nigel Mansell and a year’s supply of pies.

The Budleigh ladies’ team was formed in 2010, and the team currently play in Division One of the Westward Development’s Devon Women’s League - winning the title in the 2013/14 season. This season, the ladies have already reached the division cup final, and at the time of writing are in the semi-finals of the DCFA Cup.

Mark Roberts, the Lightfoot managing director, says: “We are proud of our Devon heritage and delighted to help Budleigh Salterton Ladies’ Football Club. At Lightfoot, we are making better driving a competitive sport and look forward to seeing how the players do with Lightfoot in their cars.”

Robinettes coach Dan Carthew says: “With lots of new faces this year and big expectations, the team are working very hard towards making 2017/18 a successful season.

“We are thrilled to have Lightfoot as our new sponsor and are incredibly grateful for their support. We are looking forward to a long and successful partnership and cannot wait to start testing out the Lightfoot technology.”
