Exmouth United Under-9s made progress into the next round of the Exeter and District Youth League KO Cup with a fine all-round show against visiting Feniton.

United made a bright start with Harry Williams excelling in the middle of the park making sure that wingers Jared Guy and Joey Bowden got a regular supply of the ball.

The wingers did their job too, putting in some terrific crosses.

However, the chances were not put away as, all too often, the strikers runs were not timed sufficiently for them to arrive in the area to convert the crosses!

The deadlock was broken when a left wing raid ended with Kyle Pearcy tucking the ball home.

Feniton responded well and it needed some solid defending, particularly from skipper Sammy Pratt and Ben Sriburi, to make sure that the home goal was never under too much threat.

After the break United continued to dominate. They nearly doubled their lead when Jo Tapp set up Bowden, but his shot went marginally wide.

At the other end Feniton looked set to level only to be denied by a smart save by United glovesman Jimmy Griffin. Victory was sealed when Jared Guy found Harry Williams with a precise pass and the latter fired home.

This was an excellent game of football, well contested by both sides.

There would have been a greater margin of victory for United had they taken their chances!
