Budleigh Salterton 2, Chard United 0

Budleigh comfortably dispatched the Plymouth and District League Premier Division visitors with a deserved clean sheet success, writes Alan Beer.

The games first chance came on 15 minutes, but George Pannell shot just wide of the post.

He made amends five minutes later when the Chard keeper, Andrew Barnes, failed to hold on to a cross from Mike Hancock.

Pannell reacted fastest to slot the loose ball home.

The best chance for the visitors came on 35 minutes when a long clearance was latched onto by John Almond, but he then shot wide of the goal.

On 50 minutes Jack Greenslade doubled the lead when he drilled in a shot from 18-yards.

From this point onwards the Chard goalkeeper made amends for his earlier mistake.

He made several good saves from shots on target by Greenslade, Wright, Williams and Callum Shipton, keeping the score line at just 2-0 through to the final whistle.

In that time the only real chance for the visitors came on 83 minutes. Darren West saw his good effort pushed away for a corner by Adrian Pullin in the home goal.

Budleigh team: Pullin, Hancock, Carr, Everest, Nield, Sale, Pannell, Wright, Lever, Greenslade, Williams. Subs; Pallett, Nicholls, Shipton (all played).
