New Lympstone Reserves management team see charges beaten at home.

Woodbury Reserves 1, Pinhoe Reserves 3

The new management team of Andy ‘Benno’ Bennett and Jonny Killick got the chance to look at their team with the Archery club fit to play 2 games this weekend.

It was Pinhoe who capitilised on a rusty looking Woodbury side who hadn’t played at all in the previous two months, taking a 15th minute lead when a long ball over the top saw the Pinhoe striker get to the ball before Woodbury keeper Joe Pond to nod the ball home.

Ten minutes later, the visitors doubled their advantage. Jordan Bishop was unlucky to head the ball into his own goal at the near post after Woodbury were caught out with a long throw-in.

Just after the half hour mark it was 3-0 after the pick of the visiting goals. Good approach play opened up the Woods defence prior to a shot from 18-yards that nestled in the back of the home net.

Woodbury’s second half performance was a far better one and can be recorded as being ‘spirited’.

Luke Bradford did well on the Right and crossed for Andy Bennett to slot home from close range, just after the hour for what proved to be a small consolation for the Woods.

Man of the match went to Kyle Harris for a good showing. Charlie Page also impressed after his return.

Manager Bennett was clear after the game that anyone who lacked the desire would be omitted for the next match. He said: “I’ll not be wasting my Saturday on people who do not care. On the whole I am pleased with this first showing, but it is quite clear there is plenty of work to be done!”
