Bank United 5, Central 0

United march on at the top of their Sunday League table after a nap hand clean sheet success over the Exeter-based side.

Central are a relatively new side in the league, with the team continuing to play together from youth football, and their collective youthful enthusiasm and ability was very evident in the early stages when they controlled much of the proceedings.

The deadlock was broken in the 10th minute after neat approach play involving Warren Vaughan and Wayne Tucker before a sweetly struck left footed shot from Phil Sanders nestled in the back of the visitors net.

Within a minute it was 2-0 when Adam Pring pounced on a rare mistake by the otherwise exceptional Central keeper.

Bank goalkeeper Graham Lewis was then the busier of the glovesman, making a number of fine saves before Pring bagged his second on the half hour following a through ball from Jamie Drummond.

There was slow start to the second half and that theme continued until the final five minutes when bank scored a fourth when substitute Guy Privett showed his bag of tricks with the ball to round a trio of defenders before setting up Pring for his hat-trick goal.

Warren Vaughan then rounded off the scoring with the fifth and final goal with a clinical finish after Sam Weekes had created the space.

Centre back Tom Elliott was named the Banks’ Man of the Match, whilst Dave Franks, Chris Manning and Adam Gendall all put in good shifts on the day.

This Sunday bank have an eye on some giant-slaying as they take on Premier Division Whimple on their own ground in a cup tie.
