Lympstone Under-10s won a penalty shoot-out to book their place in the next round of the Exeter and District League KO Cup.

Both teams contributed much to an enthralling contest between two evenly match sides. The Lympets struck first with Zak Wilton-Davies, later to be named Man of the Match, the scorer.

The visitors then levelled to send the tie into extra-time. Neither side could fashion a winner and so the contest went to the drama of a penalty shoot-out.

Lympets keeper Daniel Merrick produced a wonderful save to keep out the opening Okehampton spot kick. Dylan Foster and young Wilton-Davies then netted their kicks and, when the second Okehampton kick cannoned off the bar and out, Lympstone were through!

Lympstone coach Daniel Bowden said: “The boys were simply outstanding. It was a superb team effort and the penalty shoot out was very nervy, but the boys who took the kicks kept their composer so well and of course young Daniel made that all important shoot-out save.”
