Budleigh Salterton Under-15s were 4-2 winners when they travelled to Feniton to contest an Exeter Youth League match, writes SpursTom.

All fifteen members of travelling Robins’ squad took part in what was billed as a toip-of-the-table clash at Acland Park.

The hosts seemed unaffected by the swirling wind as they took control with some crisp passing football taking a third minute lead and doubling their advantage just seven minutes later with their goals being scored by Treeve Harris and Oscar Dennison.

However, midway through the first half a long clearance by Budleigh’s goalkeeper Ieuan Brockway was fed to wingman Ryan Fell whose run and ball control led him to him drilling the ball into the net.

It was now game on with the Robins searching for an equaliser and creating more space for themselves.

The leveller came from Matt Shaw-Smith in a goalmouth melee. Unfortunately, Feniton defender Sam Jafferson was forced to retire from the action with a head injury before the interval.

The second half belonged to the visitors with Will White and Matt Shaw-Smith adding two more goals, but the defence still had to be alert in dealing with any threat from Feniton.

They rode a late surge to depart for their Greenway Lane home with a richly deserved three points.
