Bow 3, Lympstone 3 (Bow win 6-5 on penalties)
Lympstone produced a magnificent collective effort to take the holders of the Firewatch Devon Senior Cup all the way before being edged out by the odd penalty in eleven!
The home side started brightly and struck early on. They held that lead until the break with the Lympets chasing shadows for the first 20 minutes until they found their feet in the contest.
The start of the second half saw the Lympets continue to grow in confidence and their honest endeavour and industry paid off when a superb cross-field ball from left back Danny Bowden fell to Mark Hobbs who knocked it past the defender before driving it beyond the Bow keeper.
With 15 minutes remaining a cross-shot floated into the top corner of then Lympets net to see Bow back into the lead.
The tiring Tom Porter, who had worked tirelessly, gave way to John Greenslade who was swiftly into play with a throw-in that was flicked on at the near post for Jeff Dorman to volley home to make it 2-2!
In extra-time the Bow keeper was penalised for handling outside his area and well worked free-kick routine ended with Andy Lowe finding the back of the Bow net to give Lympstone the lead for the first time in the match.
It was the eight penalty taken by the Lympets that flew over the bar leaving holders Bow mighty relieved to be still in the competition!
