Green strike after Wright set-up and Ammies are 18 points clear

Exmouth Amateurs moved into what looks an unassailable 18 point lead at the top of the Fresha League Division One table with this narrow victory.

Ammies began the game looking confident and created some good chances only top be thwarted on more than one occasion by the very useful visiting goal keeper.

Phoenix were dangerous on the break and, not for the first time this season, Ben Maddison in the Ammies goal, produced three outstanding saves to deny the opposition.

Ammies took the lead on the half hour when Tim Wright produced a pinpoint cross for Dave Green to score with a volley from inside the six yard box.

Ammies continued to dominate up until half time, but were unable to find a second goal.

The second half was a very tense affair with pressure from both sides failing to produce a goal. Jamie Williams produce another outstanding performance for Ammies, on his last appearance before a six month tour in Afghanistan.

At Bampton, Ammies seconds were still getting used to the slopping pitch in dreadful conditions when they found themselves a goal down after just ten minutes!

Once again the Ammies spirit showed and they pulled themselves back into the game and equalized via a Casey Bishop penalty. In the final minute Ammies bagged all three points when Trevor Anning produced a wonder strike from the edge of the box to win the game.

This week Warrenview has another vital game when the first team entertain Exeter Civil Service, the second team are without a game.
