Crediton United 2, Brixington United 10

Brixington United Under-14s kicked started their season with a superb all-round performance in Mid Devon.

Injuries and the half-term holidays left United travelling with just 12 players with Melc Manowski tasked with the job of stand-in keeper!

It took just 10 minutes for United to get fully into their stride and it as no surprise when Tom Green and Luke Young linked well on the right prior to Louis Masters firing United ahead.

From then on it was one-way traffic with United dominating in all areas of the pitch. The lead was doubled thanks to a fine finish from Billy Creswell.

Masters was in the thick of the action and he helped himself to a first half hat-trick, the pick of his trio being a superb header at a corner.

The home side netted the first goal of the second half, but it was soon United back on the charge and, moments after rattling an upright, Ed White netted his first of the day.

Not to be outdone by his strike partner, White promptly bagged his second and then tucked a penalty away for his treble.

Liam Gallagher, who pulled the midfield strings all through the game, struck the eighth after a fine driving run from Ollie Morey. White then hit the bar before putting in his fourth and the teams ninth before he was given a rest.

Crediton scored a late consolation, but there was still time for Balc Manowski to hit the tenth with a cultured finish.

There was still time left for more and it was nearly 11 as centre back Mat Mottishead strolled down the pitch and let fly from 30-yards only to see it smash against the crossbar with the keeper beaten.

That proved to be the final goal mouth drama with United settling for their ten goals.
