Exmouth Town extended their unbeaten run to twelve matches with victories last week over Torpoint Athletic and Cullompton Rangers, writes John Dibsdall.

The Tuesday night win against the Cornish visitors came courtesty of a goal ten minutes into the match when Dan Boere followed up a header from James Ansell to force the ball home. The remainder of the game was keenly contested with neither side creating any clear cut chances. A solid performance by Town meant their goal was never threatened and whilst you couldn’t say the result was comfortable the win was never in doubt.

The match against Cullompton Rangers on Good Friday morning was a personal triumph for Dan Boere who scored four of Town’s six goals. Another clean sheet and Town have now gone five games without conceding a goal.

The opening twenty minutes saw Town gradually gain the initiative and should have gone ahead when Boere lobbed the stranded ‘keeper but his effort hit the side netting. Town went ahead on twenty six minutes when a deep cross from Jamie Moore was headed home at the far post by Karl Rickard. Two minutes later Town doubled their lead when Boere won the ball on the edge of the penalty box and fired home.

The goal of the match came on fifty five minutes. Rickard won the ball in a challenge and as it broke Boere hit a twenty two yard screamer with swerve into the top corner. Ace High, who had just come on as sub, scored with his second touch of the ball on seventy minutes and four minutes later it was five as Boere completed his hat trick with a header from an Ian Patchett free kick. Town were now in complete control and Boere completed the scoring on eighty minutes when he glanced home another pin point cross from Moore.

Whilst Boere will rightly earn the plaudits for his goals the Man of the Match award could easily have gone to Danny Clay for his all round domination of the mid field area. Another pleasing sight was the re-appearance in a Town shirt of Ben Clay coming off the bench for the last fifteen minutes a year since he suffered serious knee ligament damage.

This Saturday Town travel to Newquay based Godolphin Athletic and on Wednesday evening are at Elmore. Last night they were in action against another of their title rivals at Bodmin Town.

Town’s reserves are at home this Saturday when Cheriton Fitzpaine are the visitors kick off 3.00pm.
