Exmouth Town looking to play first away game in three months!

This Saturday Exmouth Town will be hoping to play their first away fixture sine November 23 when they travel to North Cornwall to play Camelford, writes John Dibsdall.

When the side’s met earlier in the season a resilient display from the visitor’s kept Town to a single goal victory thanks to an Ace High effort.

Last Saturday Town’s scheduled home match with Torpoint Athletic was called off on the Friday with parts of the Southern Road ground under six inches of water.

Then, on Friday night the gale force winds blew down four of the large Leylandii trees that form part of the boundary with Southern Road.

Fortunately, they fell away from the club house, dressing rooms and garages otherwise the damage would have been far greater. A clean-up operation was started on Saturday morning and will have continued through the week.

This should not affect Town’s reserves home match this Saturday when they hope to entertain Sandford, kick off 3pm.

The Town second string last played on December 14 and have had eight games postponed in the intervening period.

Bearing in mind Town have had seven of their last nine games postponed, I was surprised when I looked at last year’s fixtures to find that we had played 26 matches up to this last weekend. In comparison, this season we have now played 24, reaping the benefit of playing midweek matches earlier in the season!
