Exmouth Town were emphatic 6-1 winners at Elburton Villa in their latest South West Peninsula League top flight game and they continue to sit two points clear at the top of the table.

Town went into the Elburton game buoyed by a midweek 2-0 win over Bovey Tracey with both their goals being scored in the first half.

On 18 minutes Richard Griffin linked well with Ace High allowing High a clear shot on goal which he buried in bottom left hand corner. On 43 minutes the same combination led to second goal. Griffin shot too powerful for ‘keeper to hold High followed up to drive loose ball home. In between both sides hit bar, Town through Jamie Moore who also went on to hit bar again in second half.

Town won the Bovey with arguably their finest all-round show for some time. They were steady at back and, with Danny Clay pulling the strings in midfield, controlled game despite Bovey’s midweek side being boosted by players from Bideford and Buckland Athletic!

Second placed Ivybridge were 3-2 home winners over Newquay but there were defeats for third placed Parkway (beaten 2-1 at Saltash) and fourth placed Witheridge (beaten 4-0 at Launceston).

March 15 results: Bovey Tracey 2, Falmouth Town 3; Cullompton Rangers 1, Camelford 6; Elburton Villa 1, EXMOUTH TOWN 6; Elmore 1, St Blazey 3; Godolphin 2, Bodmin Town 0; Ivybridge Town 3, Newquay 2; Launceston 4, Witheridge 0; Liskeard 2, Tavistock 2; Saltash United 2, Parkway 1.
