Archant

It was a bad day for East Devon clubs in the South West Peninsula League League Cup – the Walter C Parsons Funeral Directors Cup - with Exmouth Town, Sidmouth Town and Axminster Town all being knocked out.

Compounding a ‘bad day at the office’ for the area’s clubs were league defeats for Budleigh Salterton and Honiton Town.

Exmouth Town were beaten by a 115th minute goal from Cullompton Rangers in their cup tie at Southern Road – this a first defeat for the new Town management pair of Kevin Miller and Andy Rawlings. The defeat will have hurt the latter who was the Cully Reserve team boss last season.

Sidmouth Town went down to an 87th minute goal at home to Stoke Gabriel in their cup tie and Axminster Town lost by the odd goal in seven to Torridgeside.

In their league games – Budleigh Salterton were beaten 2-1 at Greenway lane by Bovey Tracey and Honiton Town went down 4-1 at home to Crediton United – this despite the Hippos leading 1-0 at half-time.

Better news for East Devon in the Macron League where Exmouth Town Reserves won 1-0 at Beer Albion while, in Division Three, Otterton beat Countess Wear 4-1 and Ottery St Mary won 4-3 at Royal Oak, but Tipton St John suffered their first defeat of the season – beaten 3-1 by table-topping 100 per cent Crediton United Reserves.
