Exmouth Town claimed a huge FA Vase scalp with a single goal win at Toolstation League Premier Division Wells City.

Town were thoroughly deserving of their success which now sees them entertain Toolstation league one side Sherborne Town in the 1st Round proper on October 13 (3pm).

The all-important goal came on 30 minutes courtesy of midfielder Jamie Moore. After the break the home side pressed for an equaliser, but the Town defence, to a man, stood tall and denied them space and opportunity.

Boss Richard Pears said: “We deserved it. As in any cup game we had to ride our luck at times and we were being pushed deeper and deeper back. That said we always carried a threat. Every player put one almighty shift in for the cause in this one. However, now is not the time to get carried away. We simply have to keep our feet on the ground and focus on the next step forward which is the game with University. We are trying to lay the foundations to build something good which ultimately can become something special at Southern Road. We must not get carried away with single results. I am looking much longer term. But this is a moment to savour!”
