Exmouth Tigers, who play in the Devon Disability Counts Football League, had an excellent start to the new season.
In their first action of the campaign, Tigers won 3-0 against Club Plymouth, Special Olympics Plymouth and Tiverton Town.
They had a slight blip in their fourth match losing by the same score against a strong Exeter City side, but rallied in their last game to come out 3-2 victors in a close encounter against Plymouth Argyle.
The team’s main scorer on the day, Martin Reed, said: “We lost our shape and discipline in the fourth game, which showed, and we will need to think about this in future tournaments.”
Across the five games the Tigers’ goals were scored by Martin Reed (6), Brendan Mulcahy (4) and Tom O’Callaghan (2).
Team manager Paul Baldwin said: “This was a good starting tournament today. There are a few things we need to look at, which should make us stronger and hopefully build on our cup win and league runners-up position from last season.”
