Priory 3, East Budleigh Reserves 1
East Budleigh Reserves produced a better display at Priory last Saturday, but after taking the lead eventually came way pointless, writes Mark Auton.
Budleigh showed good intent from the start with Adam Jones slotting in well, whilst Tom Chritian, Ben Wilks and Harry Trick all attacked the slope well in trying to set up Paul May and Matt Thomas and it was the latter who scored his first Budleigh goal to give them the lead.
After a bright start Budleigh slipped into a casual manner; The hosts missed a penalty, but messy defending led to Priory equalising.
The Exeter side had turned things around before the break after hesitancy at the back saw Budleigh concede a second.
The second half saw Budleigh play downhill, but found it hard to breakdown the opposition who played their own pitch well.
Ben Rowland and Tom Hurley did well from the bench, but an unlucky bounce caught out the Budleigh defence, Priory took advantage to leave keeper Mark Bown no chance.
For Budleigh Thomas received their Man of the Match vote and they wil have the perfect opportunity to put the record straight when Priory visit Vicarage Road for the return fixture on Saturday.
