Archant

Starcross Generals 4, East Budleigh Reserves 2

East Budleigh Reserves were beaten again last Saturday by a good footballing side from Starcross and another below par refereeing display, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh produced the effort, but once again were undone in conceding some sloppy goals.

It was the home side that struck the first blow despite Budleigh counter attacking well with Joe Rosser, Matt Thomas and Ben Rowland all looking lively and it was the latter who went closest.

A second goal came for the hosts, but the arrears were halved when Thomas’ sweetly struck shot made it 2-1 at the break.

The second half produced a similar result to the first with the home side striking twice more, whilst Rowland added a second consolation for Budleigh.

Once again Ben Wyatt stood out for Budleigh and there were some good performances from Max Tooby, Thomas and Rosser.

This weekend Budleigh have a double header at Newton St Cyres on Saturday and Amory Green Rovers on Monday. Both games kick-off at 3pm.
