East Budleigh out of Morrison Bell Cup at hands of neighbouring Budleigh Salterton

Budleigh Salterton 5, East Budleigh 1

A Thursday night setting at the home of neighbours Budleigh Salterton saw East Budleigh depart the Morrison Bell Cup against a very good side, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh battled well, but it was always going to be hard against the pace of the home team.

Former East Budleigh player Hugo Demetre set the hosts on their way and it was 3-0 at the break.

Jack Howarth worked hard for East Budleigh in a loan front role and came closest to scoring for the visitors.

George Pannell increased the lead to four early in the second half before substitute Rich Pratt scored a consolation for East Budleigh.

East Budleigh keeper Rob Dance pulled off some fine saves to prevent the score being more, but saw Danny Williams score a fine fifth.

Josh Whiller and Aiden Martin tried their best for East Budleigh who saw Howarth denied late on leaving the home side to progress.
