Clarke at the double as Robins Under-16s win derby meeting with Honiton Town

Budleigh Salterton 3, Honiton Town 2

The Robin’s Under-16s entertained Honiton Town in their penultimate game of the Exeter and District Youth League season, writes SpursTom.

A brace of goals from James Clarke, taking him to 22 for the season and one from Harry Moxey, saw Robins bank the points.

The visitors never gave up the fight even after going 3-0 down early in the second period, and in Blake Freemantle had a player who typified their combative spirit, he was very unlucky with a first half shot coming back off the post.

Budleigh’s approach work was worth watching, but over-elaborated in the goal area, a tactic which almost cost them the game.

The impressive Freemantle and Benjie Cramer scored in the last quarter hour, giving Honiton hope and providing a tense finish, but the young Robins nervously held on for a narrow victory.
