Budleigh Salterton into Axminster Hopsital Cup final after win at Seaton

22:51 16 April 2014

Seaton Town 1, Budleigh Salterton 4

The Robins booked an Axminster Hospital Cup final berth after coming from behind to win at the home of their Fresha League top flight hosts, writes Alan Beer.

In a goal less first 40 minutes the nearest either team came to scoring was when Matt Dawson missed the target from 18-yards, whilst Callum Shipton had a shot well saved by Seaton keeper Arthur Gay.

Inside the last five minutes of the half both Dawson and Shipton saw efforts cleared off the line by defenders!

The home side broke the deadlock in the 69th minute when Martyn Hancock stroked a penalty beyond Jordan Hockhold.

Within a minute parity was restored when a far post header by Karl Riddell was touched home by Dawson. Seven minutes later the Robins were ahead when substitute Aaron Denny scored.

Two goals from Jack Greenslade in the final five minutes confirmed the Robins place in the final to be played in May when they will play Axminster Town.

Budleigh: Hockhold, Wilson, Carr (Perkins), Riddell, Pearce, Hill, Lever, Shipton, (Denny), Dawson, Williams, Greenslade.

After a fortnight without any South West Peninsula League action the Robins now face three games in just six days! They are at Sidmouth Town for an East Devon derby on Friday morning (1am) and the travel to Plymstock United on Easter Monday (noon) before entertaining University next Wednesday (April 23) at Greenway Lane (7.30pm).
