Budleigh Reserves were so unlucky not to take all three points from their latest Freesha League top flight game.

Alex Richardson, Liam West, Zack Pearce, Mike Pidgeon, Ollie Woodley, Mark Osborne, Dave Radford, Callum Shipton, Sam Schlaefli, Barnaby Pender, James Nichols, Josh Hill, Darren Everest, Leigh Jones, Joe Perry and Sam Richards.

This may seem a peculiar way to commence a report, but every member of Budleigh Reserve squad involved in this match deserve a mention, with no individual being named Man of the Match, or maybe that honour should go to the groundsman Andy who was working on the pitch up to a few hours before kick-off, writes SpursTom.

The effort and commitment shown was admirable, and the Budleigh team did not deserve to have victory snatched from their grasp in the dying seconds.

When you play a team from the University, you expect a lot of running from them, and this was no exception, they were first out of the blocks, and the home keeper was called upon early to bring off a couple of smart saves. Dan Whittington did put the visitors ahead on 23 minutes, but good work in midfield lead to Dave Radford making no mistake with a 31st minute equalizer leaving it 1-1 at the interval.

The second half saw a very open game with both keepers in constant action. University may have shaded the passing stakes, but it was the persistence of the Robins which paid off, they gambled and chased a back pass to Uni’s keeper, this lead to an error and there was Sam Schlaefli to put Budleigh 2–1 ahead with his first goal for a year following injury.

With full time approaching and a win looking possible, we had a crazy last two minutes. Late substitute Leigh Jones squandered a chance to make it 3–1, and, with University now back on the attack they were awarded a free kick just outside the box, James Charlton shot against the bar, the ball bounced on the line and up into the net for a dramatic end. For Budleigh it was two precious points lost in their attempt to move up the table.
