Budleigh Salterton Reserves travelled to Thorverton where they obtained a very hard fought but creditable draw, writes SpursTom.
Bad defending at a 35th minute corner gave the home side a deserved lead, but following good work by Jack Thomas minutes before the break, player-boss Danny Williams smashed home the equaliser.
The Robins were fortunate early in the second half when Timothy Bradshaw was shown only a yellow card for what seemed a two-footed challenge.
This let-off somehow spurred them on and what followed was a very spirited display, with Zack Pearce the pick of the Budleigh players.
Though both teams desperately needed three points, I believe a draw to be a fair result.
On Sunday Budleigh Salterton Reserves were once more on the road, this time for Seaton Cup encounter with Beer Albion in a contest that saw both sides end with ten men. Michael Pidgeon was the first to fall foul of the match official leading to him getting an early bath!
Twice the Robins took the lead through Danny Williams and Jack Thomas, but back came Beer to take it into extra time.
A home team player got his matching orders in the first period of extra time. Budleigh took the initiative to press on in what manager John Pannell described an excellent team performance, with man of the match Michael Hancock scoring for a 3–2 victory and a place in the semi-final which sees them now travel to Colaton Raleigh on Sunday, march 11.
The Robin’s squad for the to weekend games: Timothy Bradshaw, Nathan Hadley (Gk), Michael Hancock, Luke Iddon, Ross James, Mark Lever, Aiden Martin, Alex Paltridge, George Pannell, Zack Pearce, Michael Pidgeon, David Radford (Capt), Alex Richardson (Gk), Callum Shipton, Jack Thomas, Phil (Dink) Thomas, Ryan Neville, Darren Everest and Danny Williams.
