Budleigh Ladies bag last gasp win at Brixham thanks to Jacobs

Brixham Villa 2, Budleigh Salterton Ladies 3

If we were referring to cricket we would be describing Budleigh Ladies position as being in the nervous nineties, for that’s exactly how they have performed in the last two matches, firstly against Plainmoor, followed by last Sunday’s visit to Brixham Villa, writes SpursTom.

At Brixham a strong cold wind sometimes made play difficult and led to the opening goal on 10 minutes!

The defender’s attempt to clear resulted in the ball being blown beyond the stranded keeper to put Brixham ahead. It all looked grim for the Robinettes approaching the midway stage of the half when main striker Celine White was carried off injured. Brixham was pressing hard and goalkeeper Katherine Binmore was called upon several times before one of her clearances was flicked on from midfield, Domimae Weeks’s chase paid off as she levelled the scores on 31 minutes.

Within three minutes Brixham restored their lead with a cracker of a strike by Sarah Smith and took a 2-1 lead into the interval.

After the break Budleigh pressed, but were wary of the threat the host carried on the break. Parity was restored for the second time when a well flighted Abby Yukon corner was headed past her own keeper by an unfortunate defender under pressure from Rebecca Barnsley.

Budleigh were quickly once more on the attack; Kelly Browring found Dominae Weeks who provided the assist for Molly Jacobs to score the winning goal.

Laura Raddyaway was Budleigh’s Player of the Match.
