Budleigh Salterton powered their way into the Axminster Hospital Cup final with a 6-1 win under the Greenway Lane floodlights against Macron League top flight side Upottery.
The visitors had the first chance, but an 11th minute penalty was ballooned over the bar.
Four minutes later Budleigh fashioned their best chance of a goalless first half when mark Lever saw his well-struck shot from 20-yards saved by the visiting glovesman.
The deadlock was broken five minutes into the second half when Mike White found the net.
However, a minute later parity was restored when a cross into the box was tucked past Robins’ goalkeeper Alan Doble from close range.
The Budleigh lead was restored in the 55th minute with Mark Pepperell providing the assist and Hugo Demetre – the two goal scorer in the Tuesday night 3-3 draw at Crediton – applying the finish.
The next goal, and arguably the one that killed the tie given that it gave Budleigh a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes to play, was scored by Mark Lever after a neat build-up of inter-linking play between Callum Shipton and Darren Everest.
It was 4-1 minutes later as teenager striker Adam Wilkinson scored and then Josh Sale picked the ball up just inside his own half and advanced through a number of challenges before rifling the ball home from 25 yards to make it 5-1.
The sixth and final Budleigh goal was fashioned and finished by the club’s youth team as Wilkinson provided the assist and Brad Snook the finish.
