Budleigh Salterton 3, Teignmouth 6
Budleigh slipped to a defeat in a high-scoring Greenway Lane game, writes Alan Beer.
Although the Robins started well and looked likely to open the scoring it was the visitors who found the net first.
On 10 minutes a deep cross from the left wing by Liam Macauley found Clay Bond who headed home.
Two minutes later a clever back heel by Mike Hancock inside the 6-yard box levelled the scores. Budleigh then took the lead when the referee over-ruled his assistant’s offside flag, allowing Jack Greenslade to continue his run and lob keeper Jack Moyse from 20 yards. Back came Teignmouth and just before the break Steve Shrubb struck to send the teams into the break on level terms.
Ten minutes into the second half Hancock set up George Pannell and his shot from 25-yards out found the top left hand corner of the visitors net to put the Robins ahead for the second time in the game.
However, this time the home team managed to hold this lead for just four minutes. Lee Haywood was given far too much time and space and scored easily. The visitors then took the lead for the second time in the game, Macauley converting from the spot. Six minutes later the same player doubled his tally with a good individual effort. The final goal was scored by Man of the Match Shrubb to leave the visitors running out comfortable winners.
