The Robins claimed a tenth win of the South West Peninsula League Eastern Division season with a fine all-round Greenway Lane performance, writes Alan Beer.
The visitors created an early scare for the home side that was dealt with thanks to some solid back post defending by Sam Woodin.
At the other end Hugo Demetre saw his crisp shot turned over by the visitor’s gloves man Darren Rose.
Rose was beaten moments later though when Matt Dawson scored from 6-yards to give the Robins a 12th minute advantage.
In the 23rd minute the busy Rose did well to push a Jack Greenslade shot round his post.
Just before the break the Fishermen levelled when along clearance was seized on by Christian Hancock and he clinically tucked the ball past Jordon Hockhold in the home goal.
The second half saw plenty of end-to-end football, without further goals being scored.
All that changed eight minutes from time when Robin’s player-boss Danny Williams, a second half substitute for Greenslade, delivered a corner to the near post that Jack English tucked away.
Four minutes later Williams added a third when he got on the end of a Callum Shipton cross to net from close range.
The visitors replied almost immediately through Brian Levien, but the Robins survived a nervy period of added time to deservedly bank the points.
Robins team: Hockhold, Carr, Everest, Ellis, Woodin, Demetre, English, Pannell (Hill), Dawson, Lever (Shipton), Greenslade (Williams). Sub not used Wright.
There’s three games in a period of ten days coming up for the Robins. They travel to Crediton United on Saturday (March 22), then entertain Teignmouth Town at Greenway Lane next Wednesday (March 26) before visiting University on the final Saturday of the month.
