Archant

Brixington Blues 4, Exeter Panthers 3

Brixington Blues Under-11s landed their first success of the season in a close encounter with the visiting side, writes Alan Diprose.

Blues burst into life in the first minute as striker Will White crashed in a shot from outside the box to beat the Panther’s keeper.

Eight minutes later he scored with a carbon copy strike!

Blues were then grateful to stand-in goalkeeper Tom Humphry as he produced two excellent saves to frustrate the Panthers.

Isaac Davies and Sam Diprose worked hard in midfield to fashion more chances for White.

However, it was Panthers who got one back, but the two goal margin was swiftly restored as White completed his hat-trick with a long-range free kick; all this with just 15 minutes played!

Panthers struck again just before the break meaning Blues took a 3-2 advantage into the interval.

The second half began the same as the first with a goal for Blues almost immediately!

Isaac Davies floated over a free kick and skipper Luke Buck swept the ball into the net for his first goal of the season.

The visitors rallied and netted a third, but the Blues then closed the game out well to deservedly land their first success of the season.

On Saturday Blues travel to high-flying Cullompton Rangers.
