Exmouth-based Exiles made their longest trip of the season to the edge of the Devon and Somerset border and returned with three more points.

In wet and windy conditions a lively start b y Exiles saw them go one up through a 10th minute Kev Pitt goal.

The wind was a real issue and two wind-assisted downfield kicks saw the home side take charge at 2-1.

Exiles missed a chance to level when Ian Boyd’s well struck penalty, awarded after Justyn Coates had been hauled down in the area, was superbly saved by the home keeper.

Two minutes later parity was restored when Pitt and Gareth Davies traded passes before the latter fired home to send exiles into the break at 2-2.

Early in the second half a James Leaper cross was met by Pitt to score his second. Pitt was injured in the process and limped off with a tight hamstring.

On 70 minutes, after some neat link-up play down the left, full-back Leaper ran clear into the area before curling a sweet shot beyond the keeper to make it 4-2.

Ten minutes from time Boyd rifled in the goal of the game with a clinical scissor-kick volley to complete the scoring.

Boyd was named Man of the Match. Next up for Exiles is an October 7, County Senior KO Cup tie against Black Horse at Rolle College (10.15am).
