Action from the Under-10 Brixington Blues and United derby meeting

Archant

Brixington Blues 1, Brixington United 0

The eagerly awaited Under-10 Brixington derby lived up to expectations as both sides produced a fantastic game of football, writes Alan Diprose.

From the first whistle there was action as Blues Will White forced United keeper Leuan Brockway to tip over.

United came straight back, and, after five minutes they hit the bar. Brockway then again denied White, this time pushing the ball round the post and for a corner.

At the opposite end of the pitch United striker George Pritchard was making Blues keeper Will Cooper work hard, but neither side could fashion a goal in the first half.

The second half started as the first period had finished and Blues midfielder Max Rickards saw his effort power against the frame of the goal.

The end-to-end nature of the game continued and George Pritchard had further efforts for United, whilst at the other end of the pitch Blues’ Sam Diprose forced yet another save from Brockway.

The pace and passing of all was fantastic, and with the clock running down, most had accepted a fair draw. However, Sam Diprose got away on the flank, looked up and crossed for Max Rickards to crash the ball home for a Blues win.

Next up the Blues took on Lympstone and, after being denied earlier in the morning’s first game Will White tormented the Lympets defence scoring all four of the firs half goals!

He scored direct from a corner, and another came when he got on the end of a superb team effort with nearly all Blues players touching it during the move.

At half time four-goal White made way for Sam Diprose and he scored the only goal of the second half, when put through by brother Jake.

All in all a cracking day for Blues and no goals conceded by the team!
