Brixington Blues Under-13s powered their way into the next round of the Devon Cup with an empathic 7-1 success against AFC Plympton.
Blues, playing their first competitive match of the new campaign, were soon into their stride with Jack Drew-Cull and Jayden Marles linking well to create a chance for Ben Geare that the Plymstock goalkeeper saved well.
It was against the run of play that Blues fell behind, but they were soon back on the front foot with Harrison Fox at the heart of many good things in central midfield.
After Elliott Bowyer and Jayden Marles had both gone close Finn Glanfield provided the assist for Marles to net to send the sides into the interval locked at 1-1.
Early in the second half a superb finger-tip save by Blues keeper Russ Bracey denied Plymstock a second goal and, shortly after Drew-Cull crossed for Ethan Beverley to fire Blues into a 2-1 lead.
Drew-Cull then made it 3-1 before a neat move involving Bracey, Glanfield, Joel Nott and Thomas Rowsell, ended with Zac Brown making it 4-1.
Young Beverley then notched two more to bag himself a hat-trick and it was Beverley who put a polished seal on a tremendous all-round show by Blues when he scored his fourth, and the team’s seventh, late in the contest.
