Lympstone Under-14s dished up a dominant and commanding display when they travelled to Heavitree for their latest Exeter and District Youth League Division One match and returned home with an 8-1 success.
The Lympets made a bright start and took a 10th minute lead when Billy Worthington released Harry Bennett, who fired the ball past the Heavies’ glovesman.
Bennett then rifled the ball home from the edge of the box to make it 2-0 before he turned provider to set up Billy Worthington, who fired the ball home from just inside the box to send Lympstone into half-time with a 3-0 lead.
Bennett completed his second hat-track in a fortnight early in the second half before the home side scored what proved to be a consolation goal.
Within two minutes the four-goal margin was restored with Alfie Jones the scorer after some excellent work on the wing by Tom Garland; the sixth Lympets goal followed with a Garland header.
A feature of the victory was the collective performance of Harry Saunders, Ash Drake, Alfie Pakes and the impressive Murphy Boltrukiewicz, who dominated the game at the back and repeatedly launched counterattacks.
There was also a terrific shift from midfielders Ollie Willis and Jack Draper and they combined well before Alfie Jones outpaced the Heavies’ defenders to slot the ball home.
Billy Worthington finished the scoring after heading home a Bailey Cochrane cross to put a polished seal on a terrific team performance.
