Budleigh Salterton Reserves 1, Morchard Bishop 2

The Robins Reserves slipped nearer Fresha League top flight relegation with a narrow defeat at the hands of high-flying Morchard Bishop.

The Robins made a bright start with Richard Higham having put his shot wide and most of the first half was uneventful with certainly far too few clear cut chances.

The two which were converted occurred because of the hosts losing possession.

On 22 minutes Matt Woodward took advantage of a blunder to lob the advancing keeper to put the visitors ahead. For the next 15 minutes no one was dominant, but then three Budleigh players lost possession whilst trying to play keep ball, and off went Kenny Ord to punish them, so being two goals down at the interval things looked bleak.

The second period was a completely different situation with Budleigh forcing the pace, if they were not missing chances, those on target was being well dealt with by the visiting glovesman. They finally got a breakthrough on 57 minutes, Josh Sale with a perfect free kick into a crowded goal mouth, found the head of Brett Gloyn who did the rest. Having got back into the contest the Robins went all out for the equaliser, but one man stood definitely in the way, non-other than goal keeper Michael Searle, try as they did Budleigh just could not find the back of his net, even having a hand-ball appeal turned down in the dying minutes.

Topsham are due to visit Greenway Lane on Saturday, please come along and give the Robins some moral support, as at present they need all the help they can get.
