Archant

Morley Rangers 2, East Budleigh 1

East Budleigh can count themselves a little unfortunate to lose this Firewatch Devon Senior Cup tie by the odd goal in three on an artificial surface against Plymouth league side Morley Rangers.

Defensive mistakes cost Budleigh in this one as the home side went in front in the first quarter of an hour.

Budleigh gradually came to terms with the pitch, but went in at the break behind.

The second half was a lot better for Budleigh and after peppering the Morley goal got their reward before the hour when a home defender cleared the ball only to hit his own player and ricocheted into his own net.

Budleigh continued to attack; Si Tuley was unlucky not to add his name to the score sheet and Budleigh also had a goal disallowed from a dodgy offside decision.

Another slip at the back saw Budleigh keeper Rob Dance exposed late on and the hosts duly booked their place in the next round.

In what was a good effort from Budleigh Phil Page stood out, whilst Adam Jones and Steve Davey both stepped up from the reserves and did well.

Budleigh will hope for a change of luck when they visit Colyton on Saturday in the league.
