Lympstone 2, Pinhoe 1
The Lympets were good value for a narrow victory that sees them continue their unbeaten start to the Fresha League Division Two season.
Morning rain left the surface in near perfect condition and allowed both teams the opportunity to move the ball around at pace.
The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute when a shot from outside the area by Stuart Tuckett flicked off Andy Lowe who was trying to get out of the way! The ball then sent the visiting keeper the wrong way and nestled in the bottom of the net!
Two yellow cards in the space of five first half minutes reduced the visitors to ten men for then remainder the match.
The Pins began the second half well and their efforts were rewarded with a 65th minute equaliser from a free-kick.
Almost immediately the Lympets thought they had restored their lead only for a lengthy discussion between the linesman and referee deem it to be no goal!
With the clock ticking down a Lympets corner was delivered to the far post where skipper Chris Eynon met the ball with a firm header to give his side all three points.
Eynon was named the Lympstone Man of the Match.
On Saturday the Lympets head up the North Devon Link Road to face Combe Martin in the Devon Senior Cup.
There was also a superb 5-2 victory for the Lympstone Reserves at Met Office.
