Exmouth were, like the rest of the Francis Clark Devon League top flight clubs, forced to sit out a thoroughly soggy Saturday with their top-of-the-table clash with Bovey Tracey not seeing a single ball bowled in anger.
With a wholesale washout of the Premier Division it leaves things as they were the previous week, but actually makes the Exmouth route to the title more straight forward!
The Maer men have two games to play and require 33 points from Saturday’s home meeting with North Devon and a final day visit to Cornwood.
The only teams who can deny them the title are Bovey Tracey and Sidmouth who meet this coming weekend. After that Bovey travel to relegation-threatened Bradninch and Sidmouth host Budleigh.
For Exmouth to lift the title on the penultimate match day of the season, and in front of their own followers, they would need to defeat North Devon, banking a full-house of 22 points and then hope that Sidmouth win at Bovey Tracey claiming no more than 18 points.
Any other sequence of results and the title will be decided on the final day of the season.
