Exmouth United Under-9s secured a draw and a win form meetings with West Exe and City Raiders in their latest Exeter and District Youth League games.
First up they took on West Exe and fell quickly behind. Parity was restored when Harry Williams and Joel Knott traded passes before Williams scored.
It became a very physical encounter with United skipper Sammy Pratt often at the centre of some superb defending. Despite a great effort fro United keeper Jo Tapp he was unable to keep out a second West Exe goal.
Joey Bowden then netted to send the sides into the break at 2-2. In the second half Knot saw a shot cannon back off the crossbar before Joey Bowden netted to give United the lead for the first time in the contest.
In the closing stages the Exeter-based side scored their third from close range following a corner with honours ending even at 3-3.
Next up United met City Raiders and a superb spell in midfield from Jimmy Griffin saw the youngster provide three assists for another Lewis Fulls hat-trick. The visitors hit back and scored twice themselves before the break.
In the second half United took charge. Joey Bowden ran the length of the pitch to score and make it 4-2 before Harry Williams took a pass from Kyle Pearcy to net his second of the morning and seal a 5-2 win.
United are finally starting to click after a difficult start to the season. On the morning there were valuable contributions from Jared Guy, Ryan Horne, and Carrick Howard.
